April 11th Meeting Notes

Last night, the Robert Forsyth chapter welcomed Compatriot and Past State President, George Thurmond as our guest speaker. Compatriot Thurmond recounted his tips and tricks for success in conducting an SAR Grave MArking ceremony. Compatriot Thurmond’s past record of participating in 56 grave markings added gravitas to his talk. He shared a large collection of research tools and personal anecdotes about the mamy markings he has attended.

In addition, the robert Forsyth Chapter was proud to induct our newest member, Clyde Griffy. The swearing in was conducted by Chapter President, Gary Page and the pinning of the rosette was performed by PAst President John Flikeid who was Conpatriot Griffy’s sponsor. Patriot Crews, whose line Compatriot Griffy is from was a member of the Continental Army and participated in many pivotal battles of the Revolutionary War including crossing the Deleware with General Washington.
