The SAR’s patriotic education mission is to reaffirm and instill faith in the principles of liberty and our constitutional republic — honoring the patriots who gave us our freedom while inspiring young Americans to carry that legacy forward.

K-12 · School Resource
Traveling Trunk
A hands-on educational resource available to local schools and teachers. The Traveling Trunk contains period artifacts, documents, and instructional materials that bring the Revolutionary War era to life in the classroom. Request the trunk for your school — at no charge.
Eagle Scouts
Eagle Scout Recognition & Scholarship
The Robert Forsyth Chapter honors Eagle Scouts who demonstrate exceptional leadership and service. Recipients may also be considered for scholarships at the state and national SAR level. Know an Eagle Scout who deserves recognition? Submit a nomination.
High School
ROTC / JROTC Recognition Program
The SAR ROTC/JROTC program recognizes the most outstanding cadet in local high school Reserve Officer Training Corps programs. Each recipient receives a medal and certificate honoring their leadership, academic achievement, and dedication to service.
Elementary · Art Contest
Americanism Poster Contest
The SAR Americanism Poster Contest invites elementary school students to express their patriotism through visual art. Chapter winners advance to the Georgia Society level, with national competition for top entries. A wonderful way to spark young patriotism.
Middle School · Writing
Sgt. Moses Adams Memorial Brochure Contest
Middle school students research and create a brochure about one of the five foundational documents of the United States. This contest builds research, writing, and design skills while deepening students’ connection to American history. Chapter winners advance to state competition.
Grades 9-12 · Writing
George S. & Stella M. Knight Essay Contest
High school students write an essay on an assigned topic relating to the Revolutionary War era. The essay contest develops critical thinking and historical analysis skills. National-level winners receive significant scholarship awards.
High School · Public Speaking
Joseph S. Rumbaugh Historical Oration Contest
The Rumbaugh Oration Contest challenges high school students to research and deliver a five-to-six minute oration on an event or personality of the American Revolution and its relevance to America today. Chapter winners advance to the Georgia Society and national competitions, with cash awards for top performers at each level. This contest builds confidence, public speaking skills, and a deep appreciation for American history.
