Events occur throughout the year, and are opportunities for travel, education, and fellowship. Some events are Sponsored on the National Level, as in the commemoration at NPS Battle Parks, such as Cowpens and Valley Forge. State Events are held for local battles, commemoration ceremonies, and events recognized by the State Color Guard. Local events include memorial services, parades, and other events a SAR chapter may be invited to attend. Below are some of the up coming events you may be interested in attending.

Liberty Tree Ceremony and Planting – Eagle’s Beak Park, Ball Ground, GA

Saturday at 10:00 a.mLiberty Tree Ceremony program Liberty Tree & Little Free Library (1). is the big Liberty Tree ceremony and planting at Eagle’s Beak Park at the trailhead entrance near the parking lot directly across from the historic Sherill House. 8395 Old Federal Road, Ball Ground, GA. (pls add this address to your notes)Robert Forsyth SAR and Cherokee SAR will have the program on LEEP for the semi quincentennial and or the Color Guard. Cherokee SAR is bringing the Oak tree and sharing information on LEEP. Robert Forsyth is bringing the invocation and Color Guard. C.A.R. State President Kholson Bull will bring greetings. Kevin Karvel of Cherokee SAR will explain the LEEP program and significance of planting Liberty Trees for America 250. The ceremony will be short and once the benediction is presented and the colors are retired (there will be a gun salute) the tree will be planted and watered.I have added Whitman Morgan to this email to ask if 24 folding chairs can be provided by the county. And if we need to pre-dig the hole for the tree a few days prior or will the County do that?I have attached a program which lists the order of events.I have also included the Forsyth County News as this is an important county America 250 event in which the public would be invited to attend and would be reported on by the local news.Whitman: Will any Forsyth County Commissioners be attending?Following the tree planting, we will move to the playground area at the bottom of the hill just down the street to officially unveil a little free library book box which will be filled with books for children and adults on the American Revolution and any books based on American History. Eventually, the book box will be painted in patriotic colors in honor of America 250 and will be painted by local students.Please let me know what questions you might have.
